The Pleasures are a powerhouse collaboration between two of Australia’s most respected songwriters, Catherine Britt and Lachlan Bryan. Described by Apple Music as "a match made in Americana heaven," the duo blends rock’n’roll grit with classic country soul. Their partnership began spontaneously with a few late-night texts, spiralling quickly into a feverish week of writing and recording in Melbourne that birthed their unique sound.
Catherine and Lachlan come from vastly different musical worlds. Catherine, raised on Hank Williams, was signed to RCA Records in Nashville at 16 after catching the ear of Sir Elton John. She went on to tour with icons like Dolly Parton and Alan Jackson, winning the CMA International Artist of the Year Award. Conversely, Lachlan cut his teeth on the sticky carpets of Melbourne’s alt-country scene, earning a reputation as a "songwriter’s songwriter" with his band The Wildes. The two met in a dive bar in Austin, Texas, sparking a decade-long, sibling-like friendship that eventually evolved into this musical union.
In just three years, The Pleasures have made a massive impact. Their debut record, The Beginning of the End, catapulted them onto major festival stages worldwide, securing official showcases at AmericanaFest (USA) and Folk Alliance, as well as debut appearances in the UK and a headline tour of Scandinavia in 2024. They have been nominated for three Golden Guitars and have charted in the Top 10 on the Australian Albums Chart and the Top 40 on the Americana Association Official Albums Chart in the US.
